It’s official — Boseman out

Posted November 20th, 2009 at 7:53 AM by John Hood

I’ve mentioned this bit of political scuttlebutt in these parts before, but now it’s official: New Hanover’s Julia Boseman will retire from the state senate at the end of her current term, creating an open seat for the 2010 election cycle in one of North Carolina’s most competitive legislative districts.

The other part of the rumor I heard a while back was that Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo would now seek the Democratic nomination for the seat. We’ll see. Republican attorney Thom Goolsby had already announced for Senate District 9 months ago, and now prior GOP nominee Michael Lee says he’ll try again.
